As Bend Over Shake a Tailfeather! reaches the public, The Press has published the following Testimonials, Endorsements & Exaggerations: “If you are all tied up with spur length and beard size, if your interest is in equipment and, ‘Here I wuz and there he wuz and here is a picture of me with my foot on his neck,’ then go somewhere else for your reading material. If you are interested in the intellectual process between man and turkey, and are willing to accept the fact that the turkey wins most of the time, then read Bill Privette. You are going to find some people in there that you know and a lot of people that think like you do.” Tom Kelly, The Tenth Legion, Wingfeather Press, Spanish Fort, Alabama “As one who suffers from the same affliction, I give Bill’s book top rating. Nearly every paragraph provokes a chuckle. It is full of laughs and spiced with useful information about how-to AND how-not-to-hunt wild turkeys. Anyone who has hunted wild turkey needs to read this book.” Jim Robey, Dayton Daily News, Dayton, Ohio “Bill long since lost a little corner of his soul to the wild gobbler and he has turned his adventures, misadventures and love of the sport to good effect. The book offers 12 chapters of pure delight. I have enjoyed his hilarious newsletter for years.” Jim Casada, Turkey & Turkey Hunting magazine, Rock Hill, South Carolina “We have never hunted together, but I know too well how tall tales are born on a turkey hunt. This is a witty, wild and somewhat ribald look at turkey hunting. Bill is a good writer and he can draw a reader into his stories. I enjoyed the book and the chapters were funny, with a touch of that southern humor found among traditional turkey hunters. They bring forth a message of why mere mortals like us rise long before dawn to hear a turkey gobble rattle through the woods. For those of you who collect books, buy the first edition and put it on the top shelf where the grandkids won’t use it to color in. Someday, you’ll be happy you did.” Dave Richey, Outdoors with Dave Richey, Grawn, Michigan “They say misery likes company. Privette, a noted outdoor writer, has traveled extensively in his quest for gobblers. His new book is long on self-deprecating humor, as are so many books telling tales of wild turkeys that always seem to hoodoo hunters.” Mike Marsh, Wilmington StarNews, Wilmington, North Carolina “Shake a Tailfeather is a great book for any hunter to read, you don’t just have to be a turkey hunter to enjoy this light-hearted look at what it takes to sit for hours waiting for the big daddy bird to come into your shotgun sight. If you love a good laugh and want to learn the right and the wrong ways of turkey hunting, then this is the book for you. Or if you just want a look into Bill’s life you won’t be disappointed.” Randy Davey, Jacksonville Daily News, Jacksonville, North Carolina “I read Bill’s book and almost laughed myself sick.” Bill says, “This is not a good thing to do when one is in his 80s, short of tooth and long of breath.” Parker Whedon, Esquire, legendary NC turkey hunter, Charlotte, North Carolina “Bill is a talented professional and wrings the last bit of humor out of everything.” Wayne Bailey, Wayne’s Turkey World: 60 Years of Hunting, Milton, North Carolina “Bill talks turkey with a sense of humor. He has learned to laugh at the silly mistakes, indignities and doses of humility doled out by Mother Nature. Even though the book is about turkey hunting, the experiences have universal appeal. Turkey wives love it because it is a voyeuristic look into what their husbands are into. Nonturkey hunters will like it because it is a combination of down-home philosophy and humor. Don’t count on Bill to spend all of his time at the keyboard. His spring turkey hunting schedule looks like that of a rock band on tour.” Chris Young, The Springfield Journal Register, Springfield, Illinois “I listened to one of Bill’s CDs on the way home from the state NWTF convention and laughed so hard I nearly drove the car off the road. Do not operate vehicles or machinery while reading Bill’s book.” Bob Gowen, Hoots Wild Turkey Belts, Halifax, North Carolina
